ANCIENT CIVILIZATION

In Egypt, Mesopotamia and Nubia round 4,000 BC larger towns and cities started to appear. These towns were filled with humans that were able to get food, create shelter, and invent more complex art. During this time large scale building were created. Architecture was also used to distinguish which class a person was in. This also meant the architecture could show how much power someone had at the time. There were many advances with architecture, mathematics, written law, and sculptures. An interesting fact about the Ancient Civilization time period is that they would store artifacts in the tombs and the pyramids.

During this time period they used mud, wood and stones for walls. The climate was a huge influence on the interiors as well. The minimal rainfall, intense sunlight, and little variation in temperature were all due to the climate and surroundings. They also had flat roofs, outdoor spaces, window placements, and roof ventilators. They also used the post beam construction based off of the Prehistoric Period. Durng this time they started using richer materials and certain colors that influenced the Art Deco period. Often times Egyptian people also had gardens in their homes! They had these to supply their families with fruit trees, exotic trees, and ponds. These gardens were almost always on the formal side.
