When it comes to building styles in Greece at this time they had palaces. The most important room in the palace was always the throne room. The most important structures in a palace were always the columns. Columns were very important to their architecture. The most important surviving building of Classical Greece is the Parthenon. The Parthenon was dedicated to the goddess Athena. If you didn't live in a palace of temple you lived in a far less impressive building. These tiny houses were made from mud-brick and were built on a stone foundation. These houses had wooden frameworks and terracotta roof tiles. They had an inner courtyard with few windows on the outside for security, limit heat from the sun and from hot air. Rooms were most always giving specific purposes as in modern houses and some rooms were even reserved for use by the different sexes. A cool special characteristic building had was the compluvium and the cistern. This was a hole in the ceiling and a hole in the ground that would catch the rain water. Windows were placed high on the walls and were never the same on the second floor. Doors were always wood, stone, or marble with broze or fabric on them.
